Frequently Asked Questions

The Global Fairness Initiative was founded by Karen Tramantano in 2002.

GFI promotes a more equitable, sustainable approach to economic development for the world’s working poor by advancing fair wages, equal access to markets, and balanced public policy to generate opportunity and end the cycle of poverty.

We are grateful for the support of our partners and friends around the world.

Following and sharing our reports and impact on social media is a great way to expand GFI’s reach.

Lastly, participation in giving campaigns or other financial support is always highly appreciated.

Students are welcome to apply to open internships, or fellowships opportunities (see below).

GFI is open to working with students and volunteers to help further our mission and programs. We offer unpaid internships each academic semester, including a summer program. To apply, please contact info@globalfairness.org.

Created in honor of Shirley Sapin in recognition for her commitment to equality and opportunity for all people, the Sapin Opportunity Fellowship was established to offer students in post-secondary institutions the opportunity to work for four months with the Global Fairness Initiative (GFI) on issues of economic development and workforce equity.

GFI is proud to maintain a four-star charity rating on Charity Navigator, and Platinum rating on Guidestar.

GFI is an equal opportunity employer and employs personnel without regard to race, ancestry, place of origin, color, ethnic origin, language, citizenship, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, physical and/or mental handicap or financial ability.

While remaining alert and sensitive to the issue of fair and equitable treatment for all, GFI has a special concern with the participation and advancement of members of four designated groups that have traditionally been disadvantaged in employment: women, visible minorities, aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.
